The appearance of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin Miner Machine
The Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine comes in an industrial-grade carton box. You will be able to find the information of the manufacturer, the logo of the warehouse, and other logistics information outside this carton box. The other details you can see include the specification of the miner machine and the barcode. If you compare the size of this cardboard box with that of the S15 Antminer, both are the same. The size of the carton box is 48.6 cm x 38.8 cm x 26.5 cm/ The total weight of the whole package is around 11 kg.
You will be able to see the two pear foams inside the carton box. The Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine is encapsulated between these two foams. These foams ensure the safety of the miner machine during the shipping process.
If you remove the pearl foam on the top side, you can see the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine inside an anti-static bag wrapping.
Bitmain uses the all-in-one machine design for the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine. The design consists of parallel dual fans for the heat removal, one in the front and another in the rear. The size of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine is 29.5 cm x 29.8 cm x 18 cm. So, the size of the Antminer S17 is slightly bigger than the Antminer S15 miner machine. The weight of the mining machine is around 9 kg.
You can place the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine in both vertical position as well as horizontal position. The size of the rack will decide the alignment of the miner machine. If you notice the size of the power supply and the control board, you can see that they are slightly bigger when compared to the previous model.
Internal Details of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine
In order to find the inside details of the control board box, we will remove the control board box cover. Now, we will know the reason for the enlargement of the control box. It is for hiding three things. They are the power supply unit, connecting cable of the control box, and the connection pieces of the computing power board.
This design has ensured that only fan cables are visible from the outside. Thus, it helps provide a more concise look at the miner machine. In the Antminer S15 machine, there is an issue with the exposed connection piece. This design of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine helps solve that issue. Thus, it helps to protect the miner machine from a possible short circuit from the rack.
You will be able to see 4 types of wire connections going to the control board. It includes the voltage regulation wires, connection wires to hash boards, power lines to fans, and power lines to the control board. You need to remove these wires.
Now, you need to remove the control board of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine also. You can see some improvements in the control board of this miner machine compared to previous models. The front interface of the control board remains the same for both models.
Now, you need to remove the power supply module. You will have to use an Allen key to remove the power supply module from the miner machine. Next, you need to push the card that is located near the air outlet towards the air inlet to disconnect the power supply module.
The Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine makes use of the APW9 power supply unit. You can also see the 3 Nidec Fans in it. These are 12 V fans that are rated for 0.64 A. It helps to remove the excess heat from the power supply. The temperature at the air outlet section of the power supply module is slightly bigger than the temperature measured on the air outlet section of the hash board. But it is not affecting the functioning of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine.
Now, you can remove the control box. You can see a pad for buffer isolation on the lower section of the control box’s power connection piece.
Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine comes with 4 Nidec fans. Each of these fans requires 12 V power and is rated for 1.65 A. In addition, you will be able to see a metal shield attached to each of these fans.
You can see the internal computing power board of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine only after removing the fans. Once you remove the baffle plate, you will be able to remove all three boards from the miner machine. There are 48 numbers of BM1397 ASIC ships in each of the computing power boards. There will be a total of 144 such chips in an Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine. These chips help to provide computing power for the 56T SHA256 Bitcoin miner algorithm.
The Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine is a well-designed Bitcoin miner. There is an isolation layer provided for the power cables of the cooling fans for their protection. It helps to avoid any short circuit that can happen due to the squeezing of the power cable.
The chassis of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine is made up of aluminum. This chassis is quite thicker than the previous models.
The size of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine is almost the same compared to the S15 miner. But there is a reduction in the size of the hash board. You can also notice some free space inside the miner after placing the hash board in the chassis. They could have tried to reduce the size, thereby reducing the cost. But this space may be provided for the proper distribution of the air volume on the air inlet side.
If you look at the hash board of the Antminer S17 Bitcoin miner machine, you can see the heat sinks on either side of the hash boards. These heat sinks are of different sizes. This design helps to remove the excess heat from the miner machine.
